Here is a comprehensive guide to caring for your String of Bananas:

Light

• Bright, Indirect Light: This is the ideal condition. The plant needs plenty of bright light to thrive and maintain its compact shape. Place it in a location with a sunny window, but where it won’t receive harsh, direct sunlight for too long. An east-facing window with morning sun is often perfect.
• Avoid Direct Sun: Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, causing them to turn a bleached white or brown.
• Low Light: In low-light conditions, the plant will become “leggy,” with long, sparse stems and smaller, less plump leaves as it stretches toward the light.

Watering

• Drought Tolerant: As a succulent, the String of Bananas stores water in its leaves and is highly drought-tolerant. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.
• Allow Soil to Dry Completely: The golden rule is to water only when the soil has completely dried out. This can be once every 1-2 weeks, depending on the temperature and humidity of your home. During the winter, when the plant’s growth slows, you will need to water much less frequently.
