The plant likes it as warm and humid as possible. It is best cared for in a warm tropical terrarium. In medium light it develops the most beautiful coloration. Fertilizing can be done in the growth phase with green plant fertilizer in half dosage – less is more here. Repot in well-drained, nutrient-poor soil. Not too wet, but keep moist throughout.
-
LightPlace the plant in an area with bright, indirect light, such as near a window with filtered sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
-
WaterWater regularly, but allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot.
-
SoilUse a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter, such as coco coir, perlite, or vermiculite.
-
FertilizerFertilize every two to four weeks during the growing season with a balanced houseplant fertilizer.
-
RepottingRepot the plant after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first.
-
HumidityMist the leaves occasionally to increase humidity.
-
PinchingPinch out the growing tips of the plant regularly to keep it compact and bushy.
-
Removing apple mintPinch out any solid green sprigs of mint that you find, as these are apple mint, the parent plant of the pineapple mint cultivar.
