The Epipremnum Neon Njoy, Neon Joy Pothos,  is a beautiful, easy-to-care-for houseplant known for its vibrant, chartreuse-colored leaves. It is a variant of the more common Pothos (Epipremnum aureum).

Here’s a guide to help you keep your Neon Joy Pothos, Epipremnum Neon Njoy happy and healthy:

1. Light

  • Bright, Indirect Light is Best: This is the ideal condition to maintain the plant’s bright, neon-green color. Place it near an east or west-facing window, or a few feet back from a south-facing window. A sheer curtain can help diffuse strong, direct sunlight.
  • Tolerates Lower Light: While it can survive in medium to low light, the plant’s growth will slow, and the leaves may lose some of their vibrant color and become a duller, darker green.
  • Avoid Direct Sun: Harsh, direct sunlight will scorch the leaves and cause browning.

2. Watering

  • Water When Top Soil is Dry: Allow the top 50-75% of the soil to dry out before watering. A good rule of thumb is to stick your finger a couple of inches into the soil. If it feels dry, it’s time to water.
  • Thorough Watering: When you do water, do so thoroughly until you see water flowing out of the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot. Discard any excess water that collects in the saucer to prevent root rot.

Signs of Incorrect Watering: Yellowing leaves are often a sign of overwatering, while drooping or curling leaves can indicate it’s thirsty.

3. Soil

  • Well-Draining Soil is Key: A standard, well-draining houseplant potting mix is perfect. You can also create your own mix by combining potting soil with amendments like perlite, pumice, or orchid bark to improve aeration and drainage. This will help prevent the soil from becoming waterlogged.
  • Ensure Drainage: Always plant your Neon Joy Pothos in a pot with drainage holes.

4. Temperature & Humidity

  • Temperature: This plant thrives in average room temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Avoid placing it near cold drafts, air conditioning vents, or heating units, as sudden temperature changes can stress the plant.
  • Humidity: While they are quite adaptable to average household humidity, they will thrive in a more humid environment. You can increase humidity by:
    • Using a pebble tray with water underneath the pot.
    • Misting the leaves regularly.
    • Placing the plant in a naturally humid room like a bathroom or kitchen.
    • Using a humidifier.

5. Fertilizing

  • During Growing Season: Feed your pothos with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer once a month during the spring and summer (the growing season).
  • Dilute Fertilizer: Always dilute the fertilizer to half strength to avoid “fertilizer burn.”
  • Hold Off in Winter: Do not fertilize in the late fall and winter when the plant’s growth naturally slows down.

6. Epipremnum Neon Njoy Other Tips

  • Pruning: Regular pruning helps maintain a bushy, full appearance. You can cut back long, leggy vines just above a leaf node. The cuttings can be easily propagated in water to create new plants.
  • Toxicity: Pothos are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep them out of reach of curious children and animals. Ingestion can cause mouth and stomach irritation.
