Strong midday sun should be avoided, as it may scorch the leaves. Adequate light helps maintain its silvery coloration and compact, upright growth. If grown indoors with limited sunlight, a full-spectrum grow light used for 8–10 hours daily works very well.

Watering

As a xeric Tillandsia, T. jequiensis requires less frequent watering than softer, greener air plants. Water 1–2 times per week depending on climate. In hot, dry conditions, watering can be increased slightly, while in humid or cooler environments, reduce frequency. The best method is soaking: submerge the plant in clean, room-temperature water for 15–20 minutes. After soaking, gently shake off excess water and place the plant in a bright, airy spot to dry completely within 3–4 hours.
